Submission Tools’ Usefulness

Article writing, submissions, publications and blogs are getting popular because with modern communication technology comes the popularity of information-based marketing, which is one of the oldest and most effective techniques in getting targeted prospects to sites and converting them into buyers.

Submission tools abound that authors and marketers can use to make the process of submitting their articles more easily. Though this is invaluable in getting the contents more exposure, it's only half of the process.

Here are three common mistakes many authors make before submitting their contents to article directories:

1. Confusing the reason to promote the articles with the reason to write them.

In article writing, there are three key benefits in using them for promotion; branding, lead generation and promotion, which are all part of your optimization strategy.

But there is only one reason why you write an article, and that is to inform your audience. Your article must be focused on a topic to achieve the three promotion benefits because no one will be interested in reading them if they aren't.

The first goal is to get people to read your article, the next is to get them to click on your resource box. Providing focused content will help you achieve these goals.

2. Overlooking all the promotional opportunities of article marketing for maximum results.

First of all your articles can help you generate additional links back to your site. Most marketers already know this. But do you know that you can get more visitors and better search engine results from those same articles?

How do you get more visitors and better search engine results?

Mention keywords at strategic places. Just be sure not to overdo them. A keyword density of 3-5% is an optimum percentage. Some directories support anchor texts which is effective. It's important to note as of this writing that majority of the directories are not able to support anchor text links. If you plan on using anchor texts you'll have to determine which directories will accept your submissions. Otherwise use a plain text url such as this. http:///www.yourdomain.com

Remember that is not only about the links back to your site. Part of doing well in your article marketing is getting picked up by publishers with a large number of audiences and gaining the ability of leveraging other brands because of the quality of your work.

Better search engine results also are great benefits. But these things do not put much money in your pocket. There are other factors that can turn your article marketing efforts into an opportunity that can boost your earnings. Not just increase the number of visitors to your site.

Start out with a plan. Make a list of all the different ways you can put that article to work for you and all the purposes it serves. One guru I know makes his articles work in 20 different ways or he doesn't use it. How many ways can you come up with?

3. Publishing content that is not useful for your readers.

Maybe in the process of writing articles, you are thinking that all that is you wanted is links back to your site. And any visitors it can generate is just a bonus.

THAT couldn't be farther from the truth. Not all article banks and directories are going to accept your content automatically. Each of them have guidelines and specifications on the articles that they are accepting. You can double the number of sites you can submit to by writing articles that the directories want to share with other people. All it takes is one publisher with a hundred thousand readers to increase your potential audience overnight.

Write the articles that publishers want in their publications if you want your article marketing to work the most effective way for you. This also means you have to obey the standard guidelines, spell checks, researching on a good topic and even hiring a writer to produce good content on your behalf.

In the end, it is all really a matter of choice on your part. You can start getting a little exposure from increased links back but on a very basic level. Or enjoy massive exposure from a little extra time writing quality useful content.

By Not Submitting Artcles Can Impede Your Success in MLM

This has happened more than a few times:

Someone writes in to say, "I've been doing article marketing for the last 6 months, and I don't see any difference! What gives?"

Then I look at their submissions to try to help them figure out what the deal may be. Indeed, I see that they did start submitting articles 6 months prior, but guess what?

Over the past 6 months they submitted only 3 articles.

Hmmm, I wonder why their results are less than they hoped ?

The Solution

There is a delicate balance with article marketing–submit too many articles and publishers won't appreciate it, but submit too few and you won't make enough of an impact on Google to see much of a difference.

The solution is to submit between 1-8 articles every 30 days (this is what we recommend at SubmitYOURArticle.com).

That is a moderate article submission schedule, and if you stick within that healthy range you'll have the best chance of seeing optimum results.

I often tell folks that article marketing is a "less is more" situation, but don't take that too far and stop submitting entirely! You must submit a steady amount of articles (1-8 a month) to see lasting results.

9 Tips for Developing a Healthy Article Submission Habit

Of course there are events in life that make it so we don't write as often as we had planned, but if you're finding that you are consistently not submitting articles even though you'd like to, here are 9 tips to help you get back on track:

1) Set goals. Although I have been submitting at least 1 article a month, I recently decided that I wanted to take things up a notch. I've set myself a goal of submitting 4 quality articles a month. (There is nothing magical about 4 articles–your goal may be 1 article a month or 8–it's up to you!)

When I made the specific goal of submitting 4 articles a month, I was also inspired to plan how I would achieve that goal. I created a writing schedule for myself where I planned out which days I would write articles and which days I would submit them. I keep the schedule beside my desk so that when I start working in the morning, I know what I need to do.

2) Get support and inspiration from colleagues. If you have this goal of submitting a certain number of articles a month to benefit your website and your business, you will have a much easier (and fun) time of accomplishing your goal if you surround yourself with other folks who have similar goals.

I know this sounds biased , but I strongly encourage you to participate in the community we have here at Creative Article Marketing–this place is all about learning, about trying things and sharing results, about getting inspiration when we are feeling totally drained, and about getting support for accomplishing our goals.

We are a community of your colleagues, and we're eager to help and encourage in any way we can! Take advantage of this free resource!

3) Get an accountability partner for your business and/or article marketing goals. I started doing this last month with my Operations Manager, Sharon. She tells me her monthly goals and I tell her mine. We write them out, and then at the end of the month we revisit our goals and tell each other how we've done.

Believe me, actually stating your monthly goals to someone and knowing that you'll be telling them how you did in a few weeks will really light a flame under your feet and spur you to find a way to make things happen!

4) Schedule your time like a professional writer. I wrote a post on this topic a while back, and I cannot even tell you how much of an impact scheduling my time like a professional writer has had on my writing productivity. The difference in output is amazing, and I find that I actually spend less time trying to write, and more time writing productively during the peak times of my writing creativity.

So definitely, read that post about scheduling your time like a professional writer, and also this one about learning to write first thing in the morning. Yes, a trick of professional writers is to write in the morning (often very early in the morning) while their brain is still fresh and distractions are at a minimum. I can attest–I do write first thing in the morning, and it works!

5) Do timeboxing. Again, for many folks the reason why you haven't been submitting articles consistently is because of time constaints—writing takes too long, or being "creative" is not something that you think you can work into your schedule.

This is where timeboxing comes in–Timeboxing is a productivity technique where you allot yourself a limited amount of time to complete an activity. The human brain is a cool thing–when it perceives that time is limited, it kicks into high gear and maximizes its efficiency, helping you to do things within a shorter span of time than if you had no time limitations.

Now, you must be reasonable with this–it's unrealistic to give yourself 10 minutes to write a top quality article. If you're just starting out, give yourself an hour. Tell yourself–"I have an hour to write this article. After that, my time is up."

If you haven't finished your article first draft by that time, then the next day do another timeboxing session–give yourself 30 minutes to wrap things up with your article.

Seriously, this timeboxing technique works, and you can use it to help you maximize your efficiency in any aspect of your life (Chrismas shopping, grocery shopping, cleaning the house, work stuff)–when your brain perceives a sense of urgency, it will kick into high gear for you!

6) Write from a new angle. Sometimes habits can come back to bite us–we get so used to writing about the same old stuff in the same old way that we bore ourselves to tears! Try tackling a topic in your niche from a different perspective to shake things up and get those creative juices flowing. Or try writing in a different voice, maybe one that is more fun and friendly. Change the way you think of yourself as you relate to your target readers–Why not think of yourself as a trusted teacher who is telling them how to do something that they're confused about? That approach never fails!

7) Plan out a series of articles. This is one of my new article writing techniques–plan out a series of articles under a larger topic.

An example of a series would be something like this blog post series that we're doing right now–How To Sabotage Your Article Marketing. In the same way that I'm doing this series on this blog, I could also turn around and use my outline for this series for my article submissions.

This helps me soooo much, because I have a plan that I'm following, a map that I'm using as I go throughout the month. When I sit down to write, I know what I'm supposed to be writing about. There is no dreading sitting at the computer, no wondering, "What should I write about?" It's all spelled out for me because I've pre-decided that for a particular month I'm writing a series of articles on a certain topic.

Big warning: It is just fine to write a series of articles, but please do not put "Part 1" and "Part 2" in your article title or anywhere in your article body–each article in your series must be able to stand alone. So, anyone looking at your articles will be able to tell from your titles that they are on the same topic, but they won't be seeing Part 1, Part 2 etc.

The reason why we advise not to do articles that are in parts is that it decreases the chances of your article getting picked up by an ezine editor, and it also may decrease the likelihood of someone reading one of your parts that they find separate from the others. Just trust me on this–don't write articles that are continuations of other articles.

8) Conquer writers block. Sometimes we stop writing articles because we freeze up–we are just blocked on what to write! If you've ever had writers block, it is the worst feeling! A while ago I wrote a post about How To Conquer Writer's Block, so you may find that helpful. I actually wrote that post because I had writer's block, but after following the steps my creative juices started flowing again!

9) Just write! Have you ever heard of the term "theoretically productive"? People who are theoretically productive spend bunches of time trying to figure out the most efficient way to do things, but in the end they never really do what they were planning on doing.

It is so easy for me to fall into that trap myself, and I could go on and on giving you tips for kick starting your article writing. At a certain point though, you just need to stop reading and start doing.

Sure, get your plans in place, create a schedule, map out a series, and then hit the ground running.

When you start you'll get your momentum moving in a forward direction, and you'll find that actually doing the writing is much easier than dreading doing it.

So, hop to it–start writing an article now!

Learn How to Earn Money by Using Google Adsense

The Google Adsense program pays the webmaster every time a visitor of their website clicks on the ads that Google displays in their web pages. Thus it has become a truly viable and profitable option to earn a living online. So a correct positioning of your Google adsense ads can make or break your success with the Google adsense program.

Like me, many have been scouring the internet for a sure fire way of making some extra income from your content rich website. Numerous Internet marketeers have joined the Google Adsense program and placed Google ads on their websites. But many have also had the frustration of not getting enough visitors to the site and again have been scouring the internet for information on combining Google Adsense and Google Adwords to get targeted visitors to your site.

Traffic

The effective techniques for high daily Adsense cash creation must involve both traffic generation and the use of the highest paying Adsense keyword phrases in your particular industry or field. Many times you will find that the same keyword phrases that will attract the highest paying daily Adsense cash ads will also pull in significant traffic from leading search engines, meaning that your technique can aim at hitting two birds with the same stone. To increase the traffic to my website I write articles and submit to ezines to get traffic as well as external links. Many back links is one of the keys to rank your website higher.

Keywords

If you use Adwords keyword tool to select keywords you will be better off and get some valuable information. Make notes, notice the main headlines and keywords used. But, filling your advertisement page with texts to small to read, has the same color as the background and using css for the sole purpose of loading them with rich keywords content will most probably earn you a penalty.

The search engine robot picks out keywords on your page, gets a grip on what your website is about and delivers links that take users to sites that interest them. The owner of a site about acne scars then would be able to do a little research online to find the highest paying keywords in this area and then - if you know where those hotspots are - you can place those keywords in the right areas on the page. Google Adsense has very good information on how effective the placement of ads are.

Clicks

Every time a visitor to your website clicks on one of the links, you receive a small amount of revenue. The traffic flow into the Adsense site dictates the number of clicks a certain Adsense site may incur. To achieve the Adsense dream, a webmaster must produce a site that has the factors and characteristics needed to generate the traffic and clicks it needs to be profitable.
The webmaster get paid a portion of the money Google receives from it's advertisers each time someone clicks an ad on your site.

Relevant

It is really amazing that all you need to do with the AdSense program is to take a small piece of code, paste it into your website and instantly relevant ads start appearing. As soon as your account is approved for adsense ads then the most relevant ads will show on your webpage. With fewer relevant ads you get fewer clicks with lower Adsense revenues. While ad formatting and placement may affect ad click through rates, they have nothing to do with the delivery of relevant ads to your site. To make the pagerank of your site higher you should update it regularly and you should also introduce a relevant RSS feed.

How to Make the Most Out of a Google Adsense Program

Despite what you may hear, the Google AdSense program is not for everyone. There are some types of web sites that do poorly no matter how hard the owners try, and there are others that should be doing well but the webmaster simply isn’t putting in the effort to make things happen.
Here are some tips to make AdSense work better for you. If you do them all and you’re still not having any luck, then you just might be running one of those sites that don’t make money

1. Determine if your visitors are “in the mood”

Like I mentioned at the top of this article, some web sites just don’t work with pay-per-click programs.
The best performing sites fall into one of these categories:

• Sites where users go and expect to buy something while they are there. E-commerce sites fit the bill here..
• Sites where users go to find specific information on something that they want to buy now. Music and video review sites, vacation information sites, resume building sites, etc. You don’t have to actually be selling these types of things; your site can just be a Mecca for information pertaining to these things. Then, when the visitor comes to read your content, they are more likely to click on your ads.

• Sites where people who have disposable income and a credit card like to visit. This includes sites with money management, investing and lifestyle content.

• Sites that draw a large amount of new users every day. Free coupon sites and “How to” sites are good examples.
• Sites where people go who expect to read ads. Classified ads and shopping comparison sites fit into this category.

2. Make sure that your visitors don’t feel that you just want to grab their money

Give them plenty of relevant and well-written content. If writing isn’t your best skill then hire someone to do it for you. Good content brings steady traffic and steady traffic pays the bills.

3. Play by the rules

Google has some very specific Terms of Service (https://www.google.com/adsense/policies) for participating in their AdSense program. Learn those rules and follow them so you don’t lose all of your investment by getting shut out.

4. Use the tools that Google gives you

Google gives you tools for determining the best keywords for your site, measuring ad performance, and setting up different ad “channels” for fine-tuning ad results. These guys and girls are the 800 lb. Gorillas in the Pay-Per-Click market. They didn’t build these tools just to keep their programmers busy. Take advantage of their knowledge for they are very big and you are not!

5. Tweak, fine-tune and then tweak again

you should never be happy with your AdSense performance. If it’s good, then you need to make it great. If it’s great then you need to make it amazing. If it’s amazing then you need to take it to the UPS club. The UPS club? Google sends all checks over $10,000 per month to the webmaster via UPS overnight delivery. Now there’s a club that I wouldn’t mind belonging to.

6. Get more traffic

No matter how much traffic you have, you need more. More eyeballs translate to more clicks. Even if you’re only pulling a 2% click-through. That’s a lot of clicks when you have thousands of visitors each day.

7. Experiment with new keywords

new keywords can bring new ads and new eyeballs along with it. Set up some new pages on your site and experiment with different content. Once you get something that’s working then refer back to Tip # 5.

You can see results in near real time when you use Google’s AdWords. Don’t be afraid to be different. If something that everyone else is doing doesn’t work for you, then invent something that does work and get it on your site.

The Importance of Building an Opt-in List Builder

Have you realized that you need a good opt-in list if you want to own a successful online business? After reading countless articles, sought expert advices and reading many success stories of people creating a small fortune with opt-in lists, you finally decide to have one of your own. You think you know everything there is to know about opt-in lists and have followed expert advices to the T and you still weren’t able to make a profit.

In fact, you may be losing money. You may even be hiring writers to help you out, and incuring some expenses, but even with a big list, with only a very small percentage buying from you, you will still be losing profit.

Just what could have gone wrong? Why have others succeeded where you have failed? The most common mistake is that you dived straight right in. You chose a market that you think could be quite popular and would earn you money. This just not the case. Just because you wrote people from the list doesn’t mean they are going to buy instantly.

Here are some tips for those who have started an opt-in list and have failed in making any money. Follow them and you can rejuvenate your failed venture. Even those who are starting out can make use these three quick and easy ways to build a profitable opt-in list.
1) Strive to gain your customers' trust first. Just launching your opt-in list would not make you an expert and a believable seller. Put out many articles first before you start an opt-in list. Write about the topic you know and have started and used for your site. Try to put up forums to gain knowledge about your customers' wants and needs and target them.

Join forums from other sites as well. Provide expert advices and recommendations. When you feel that people trust you already, you will be able to start your own opt-in list. You can build a base as well with other forum users. You can ask them to join your list. Friends are always good customers. Put up a link to your site so that they may be able to see what you're business is all about.

The certain truth is, the money will only come in when the consumers and subscribers believe and trust you. They want a product or service that could be a good value for their money. People are not going to buy something out of your recommendation if they don’t know you.

2) Find a product or service that people want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you provide a service and product that you have researched and learned about well, you can carry it forward more convincingly. Invest your time, effort and money on products or services that can benefit your subscribers of your opt-in list.

While it is true that it is best to sell something that you have interest in, there are not many people who have the same interest as you if you decide to sell something that is not entirely popular or profitable. Do your research well and you would see the profits come in. Providing your subscribers with promotional material that they could actually use and spread around would be helpful.

3) Make friends with other opt-in list users. This is basically beneficial especially if it is someone who has already launched a successful opt-in list. These are the people that have the experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. While there are many articles available on the internet for you touse, there is nothing like getting a first hand account from someone you trust.

Experienced opt-in list users will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have gone through it. While different situations occur for different people, the general concept can still be very helpful. There are many things to avoid and these people will be able to tell you which ones.

Building a profitable opt-in list don’t just happen overnight. Opt-in lists are built from scratch, as your list grows, you should also maintain the quality of your list. Keep it organized and manageable. Get or hire help if need be, just make sure that your subscribers are happy and satisfied, and they will be willing to buy from you.

The Importance of Keyword Concentration in Article Writing

We've been all over this keywords thing backwards and forwards–yes, it's good to know your keywords when you're doing article marketing, but depending on how you use them things can either go very right or very wrong.

How can things go right?

Well, whenever you're building a website or doing any type of online marketing (including article marketing), appropriate use of your keywords can draw desirable attention from Google. This means that when folks are typing your keyword terms into a search box, Google knows to associate your website with those words, which means you'll rank higher in the search engine rankings.

How can things go wrong?

Sometimes in an attempt to catch Google's attention, writers will forget that they first need to please a few other groups of people:

a) Publishers–Quality publishers are looking for quality articles that will be useful to their readers. If a publisher does not find value in your article (if it appears as if your article is merely a vehicle to display your keywords), then they will decline your article pronto. Getting into that sort of situation kind of defeats the purpose of article marketing, doesn't it?

I've also noticed some of the top publishers instituting keyword density requirements of articles, and any article that exceeds their pre-defined percentage limit are automatically declined. (We'll talk more about how to avoid this in a bit…)

b) Your readers–Readers are looking for an article that will be useful to them. Readers and publishers don't care about your keywords–they care about the actual information you're providing in the article. If you go overboard and get too focused on stuffing your keywords into your article, it will be obvious to readers what you're doing and that will turn them off.

It's funny sometimes to read an article that is obviously over-flowing with keywords, and when you talk to the author they say, "I don't know what you're talking about–it reads fine to me."

The reason why it reads fine to them is because they are solely focused on one objective–get the keywords in the article as much as possible. When someone who is not interested in being sure you have keywords throughout your article reads your article, they will be seeing things from a completely different angle, and they'll think:

"Ugh–what is happening with this "article"? It doesn't make sense–why do they keep saying that phrase over and over?"

Or if it's a publisher, they'll say,

"Eeek! I see what they're doing–this is definitely not the type of article I'm looking for."

(BTW–You can tell when an article is the victim of "keyword stuffing" because you'll see the same phrase used over and over in inappropriate ways when other phrases would have sounded better and more natural.)

c) Google–And let's not forget about Google, the reason why folks are so interested in getting their keywords in their articles.

Remember who Google is trying to please–the search engine customers. The whole reason why they look for keywords is so that they can accurately rank web pages that have the best chances of satisfying the queries of their customers.

Google's goal is that when a "searcher" gets the results list from their search that they would say,

"Wow–these results are really good. I've found the information I was looking for. Yay, Google!"

What do you think would happen if when someone did a search Google returned results that were just web pages stuffed with keywords?

Their customer would not be pleased.

So, Google is pretty smart–it can tell when a web page or article is artificially loaded with keywords.

I always tell folks that the best way to use your keywords in article marketing (or anything else) is to write naturally, on the topic of your website. If you are writing on the topic of your website your keywords will naturally come up in the article, without sounding like you're trying to trick Google.

If you will use your keywords mindfully, and also go for natural and organic use of your keywords in your articles, then you'll have much greater success with Google, publishers and your readers.

The obvious question is–How exactly can you tell if you've got too many keywords in your article?

First off, no one knows what Google's specific formulas are for evaluating whether you've got too many keywords in your article, but we do know the limitations that some of the top online publishers are using.

They require that articles contain 3% or less of a person's keyword term.

Great, that's helpful, but how do you figure out what percentage your article has?

1) Count the instances of the keyword/keyphrase in the article body(not the title or resource box)

2) Get the word count of the article. If you're a member of SubmitYOURArticle.com, you can see your article word count on the Edit page for the article. If you're submitting manually, most word processing programs have a word count tool as part of the Edit menu.

3) Use the following formula to calculate the percentage:

[Number of times the specific keyword or keyphrase appears in the article] / [Number of words in the article] * [the number of words inthe keyword or keyphrase] * 100

So for example, let's say an article has 14 instances of the phrase 'York hotels', and the word count of the article is 441.

There are two words in the phrase ('York' and 'hotels'), so the sum would be:14/441*2*100, which calculates to a percentage of 6.34%.

That's pretty high!

Now, I know it might look kind of complicated to do this, but if you know how to multiply and divide, you're gonna be fine!

You don't need to be Einstein to do this one!

I really always tell folks to be aware of their keywords, but use them naturally; however I know that it's sometimes hard to tell what "natural" is.

If you are intentionally using your keywords in your articles, you might want to take the time to do this "keyword density calculation" to see if you're in the "natural" range (3% or under, according to some of the top article directories).

Using Adsense to Make Money

An online survey company that offers participants a chance to win a cash drawing for completing quick, fun surveys and actual cash (between $50 to $250) for completing more extensive, in depth surveys that they refer to as "focus groups." The site contends that focus group participants generally do not make less than $50.

To join American Consumer Opinion, you need to click on to www.jobslover.com. This will bring you to the site's home page where you can sign up for the site. After you complete the questions, a confirmation link will be sent to your e-mail address under the name of "Ann Parks." The site warns that many of these e-mails end up in your bulk or spam folder, so if you are interested in receiving e-mails from the site, you should add the name "Ann Parks" to your e-mail address book.

American Consumer Opinion has been around for about 10 years. It's a legitimate site, but, unfortunately, does not offer a lot of money. There are several pros and cons to joining American Consumer Opinions:

Pros:

- The site is open to international residents. You don't have to live in the United States to participate and there is no age limit, although since many of the surveys pertain to work and other adult-oriented activities, teenagers will find the questions boring;

- There is a steady flow of both short surveys and longer questionnaires available to participants;

- Your information is private; they will never try to sell you anything, spam your mailbox with ads or telephone you.;

- The site has been around a long time and is respected in the marketing community.

Cons:

- There is no guarantee of earning anything for completing the short surveys, only an opportunity to win cash in a monthly drawing. To date, I haven't won anything. Only one person wins each month and the winner receives $250;

- You don't get to pick which surveys you want to complete, you'll receive them by e-mail;

- There are times when the site goes "down" in the middle of your survey, which means you have to take the entire thing over again. The reason the American Consumers give for this is that the site is experiencing "too much traffic." But it is extremely frustrating.

The company performs research for a variety of corporations around the world, including fast food chains, railroad corporations and airlines.

One creative way to make money with this site, instead of merely participating in the surveys, is to become an affiliate of the company. This can be done by filling out a form via e-mail and asking to have a banner, or link posted to your website. The company pays 75 dollars for every person who joins the site when clicking on to your ad.

If you have an independent website or blog, this is an easy way to make a few extra dollars as the amount paid to affiliates is considerable as compared to other companies that offer the same incentive. But the person has to sign up to join the site, not simply click on the ad. Once you have accumulated $75 in affiliate fees, the company will send you a check. Monies paid to affiliates are made on a monthly basis.

On a scale of one to ten, I'd have to rate this site a five. It's not a big money maker, but is totally legitimate, private and, using the affiliate program, is a painless way to make a few extra dollars online.
